Stationery

Working closely with Gary Sims, typographic solutions specialist and instructor at Central TAFE, I was able develop a logo from scatch by analysing a commercial brief, developing ideas for that brief and applying my own design package to stationery.

Here you will be able to review my work process - from ideation through concept sketches, to developing typographic solutions and sampling different color combinations, to application of the final design.

Web

On this assignment Brendan Hibbert, web design & communications specialist and instructor at Central TAFE, briefed on a client from Lethologica Press (a small independent press based in Fremantle) to have their logo and website redesigned.

The design I used utilised a colour scheme that had impact yet it wasn't too overbearing whilst navigating the site. I created graphical icons as navigation to add visual interest to the site.

The logo I designed had typography that was contemporary and pleasing to look at, at the same time the graphic of a quill and paper complimented the client's mission statement of promoting and publishing the timeless creativity of literature from locals.

Packaging

L'vanne was a manifestation of a Corporate Design Studio exercise I worked on headed by Mary Kelly, corporate design and marketing professional and instructor at Central TAFE, that focused on creating a new beauty product for women's hair loss.

Here you can review my developmental process on creating the L'vanne package and proposal on the slide - from designing the typographical logo (that is inspired from French lavender, giving the design that heritage and organic feel I was looking for), to creating the brand label & packaging, business cards and the shop front, so that the client is ready to do business.

Publishing

I've worked on a few self-publications in the past for the sake of learning how to create a book or magazine from scratch - I had a genuine interest because I wanted to be able to self-publish my own comic series.

I already printed over 400 copies of my Grand Hunter graphic novels to sell at conventions. It started out at my local printers (i.e. Officeworks) and this back and forth relationship with the printers (me being the client) was an insightful experience because crafting a book to perfection involved a lot of patience and strong liason/communication with the printers.

The Sonic Archie Publication magazine and graphic novel were initiatives of mine - I made them as individual portfolio items to present to prospective employers of comic pubishers or the printing/graphic design business.

I'm very proud of the work put onto each project because the feedback I recieved were generally very positive.

Graphics

Here is a collection of graphics I've produced for other projects I've worked on during my studies at CENTRAL TAFE's Diploma in Graphic Design in 2013.

All images are vector graphics (yes the Ferrari too!) with the exception of the photos used for Metrotech book design and the Botanical Illustration (that was illustrated with Prismacolour pencils).
